AR/VR and My Experience!
Hello my dear bloggers! 🫶🏻
For this project, we designed a VR/AR integrated worksheet, ASSURE MODEL and a final project guideline to help A2-level high school English preparation students to virtually navigate through Tokyo. We began this project by making a worksheet after determining which landmarks, museums, and cultural activities to include, and creating questions around those preferences.
One of the main obstacles me and İrem faced in the project was the worksheet. Keeping the questions within the scope of A2-level students was a challenge, as we had to ensure that the questions we created were not only engaging but also at a level that students could handle, which was a bit difficult of a balance to find. The VR/AR content that we were looking for took a while to find as well, mostly because we needed videos that would fit the concept as well as possible.
The ASSURE model my friend Nurefşan provided guidance during the planning process. Without being overly informative, it guided us in thinking about the students, our objectives, technology integration, and active involvement of students. We preferred using it as a model as opposed to walking through each step in full detail so it helped us a lot in the process.
In the end, I think I recognized the true potential of AR/VR technology in creating authentic, i, and personalized language learning experiences. This was mostly evident as we designed the final blog assignment that integrated technology and this personalized language learning experience into a centered lesson.
